Business Services in SL1

For example, a Business Service might include any IT service that supports the delivery of financial services to Customers of a bank, or products to Customers in a retail store. The delivery of a Business Service often depends on the successful delivery of other IT services. For example, a Web Services transformation might depend on an Application Service, which in turn might depend on a Data Service and a Device Service.

A business service can be anything from a website to a consulting firm. They can be provided to consumers or businesses and are designed to improve a company’s efficiency or profitability. A good business service should offer scalability and be able to handle a variety of customer needs.

Creating a business service is simple in SL1. To add a new service, click the Business Services menu item and select Add Service. A dialog box will appear that asks for a name and description of the service. Then you can create the operations that define it, and these will be added to the Business Services page in SL1. To display a service in a certain position on the page, select it and choose Make Default.

The Office of General Services (OGS) established the Business Services Center (BSC) to increase efficiencies, lower costs and support the agency’s mission by standardizing and streamlining transactional human resource and finance services that are common across the State of New York.
