Entertaiment: Featured Articles
The word entertainment has come to mean something playful, but it can also be serious. Many forms of entertainment, such as ceremony, celebration, religious festival, or satire serve a societal need, and they may have a specific purpose or message. Some are intended for a limited audience, such as theatrical performances or a banquet, while others can be mass-produced and broadcast to thousands of people.
Entertaiment is derived from the Latin intertenere, a combination of the prefix “inter” meaning “inside,” and the suffix tenere meaning to hold inside. It has also been influenced by the Indo-European root of ten, pronounced “ten.”
